Awards

Some of the fabulous masterpieces of “Suman” craftswomen have been recognized by numerous national and international certificates and awards. Experienced prize giving boards in Tajikistan and European capitals have been impressed by their unique style and indescribable aestheticism.

“Suman”, being a source of national pride for Tajikistan, is always welcomed to national fairs and exhibitions and is on the list of cultural programmes during high-level foreign visits to the country. One of these visitors was her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, who visited “Suman” in 2005. She was impressed by the achievements of women-lead enterprise in Tajikistan and happy to wear a zardoozy dress, especially sewn and embroidered for her in “Suman”.

Ms. Fayzimo Ibragimova, the owner and General Director of “Suman” brought the very first award to her company back in Soviet times. She was awarded by the Soviet Peace Foundation, a charity NGO of the former Soviet Union for her contribution to building a school in Tajikistan.

In 2004 she received the Napoleon Gold Medal of Assistance to Industries Association (SPI) in Paris, France for successful management. The association was founded in 1801 by Napoleon Bonaparte himself and since 2004 it has honored the most successful development projects worldwide. Only the holders of SPI Gold Medals can be awarded a Napoleon Medal and awardees are symbolically named a marshal in his/her business. Ms. Ibragimova was honored by an SPI Gold Medal before being named a marshal in embroidery.

The “Suman” head was among the first winners of the international award for excellence in business management honored by a British company Advent UK LTD. Ms. Ibragimova received her prize in an award ceremony held in London in 2006. As mentioned by the jury, the award and the diploma acknowledge the success and undisputed achievements of “Suman” and its General Director personally on the Russian national and international market. The judgment of the British jury was based on the decision of recognized experts from relevant organizations in Paris, London, Geneva and Moscow.

“Suman” embroidery skills have also been recognized by the Austrians. The unusual medal you see pictured on the right was awarded to Ms. Fayzimo Ibragimova in Vienna in 1999.

“Suman’s collection of prizes is also comprised of national awards. Among others this collection includes an acknowledgement signed by the Tajikistan Prime-Minister for active representation of the country in EXPO-2010 in Shanghai, China; an acknowledgement by the National Guard of the Republic of Tajikistan for excellent uniforms sewn for Tajik army generals and officers in 2010; a diploma for winning the national competition for the best handicraft products in 2009.
